The name Siddhidatri is derived from two Sanskrit words: Siddhi (supernatural powers) and Datri (giver). Thus, Siddhidatri Mata is revered as the divine mother who bestows all forms of siddhis upon her devotees. Mother Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninthth day of Navaratri. On Maha Navami, Maa Durga is worshipped as Mahisasura Mardini which means the destroyer of the Buffalo Demon. It is believed that on Maha Navami day Durga killed the demon Mahishasura. The worship of Siddhidatri, the ninth form of the mother Durga, brings great siddhi to her devotees. On Navratri Day 9, devotees perform puja and chant mantras to seek wisdom, strength, knowledge, and spiritual blessings. The festival of Dusshera is celebrated on the next day after worshipping Maa Siddhidatri.
